How to apply:
1. Fill out an application online. Our one-time, non-refundable application fee is $100. Simply click “Apply Here” below!
2. Upon receiving your application, you will be invited to a parent-only tour.
3. After the tour, you can confirm your desired start date and program choice.
4. Your application will be placed in our waitpool.
4. Once there is availability in your program of choice at your desired start date, we will reach out for enrollment. We enroll on a rolling basis year-round. A $2,500 deposit is required to secure your spot. A waitpooled application does not guarantee enrollment if there are no available spots.
Why choose Explorer?
There is an unmet need for preschools that implement Mandarin immersion as well as non-traditional, progressive educational philosophies that are child-centered and nature-based.
Many traditional schools give out worksheets or “cookie cutter” arts and crafts, enforce strict discipline policies, focus on reading/writing when it is not age appropriate and require potty training when children are not necessarily ready. Explorer however, follows the children’s lead when it comes to what is taught in the classroom. Children and teachers are not afraid to get messy and dirty, and they are encouraged to play in the rain and mud.
The idea for Explorer comes from an eagerness to provide a space where children feel safe and accepted, which has a huge impact on learning. Explorer is a passion project, years in the making, drawing from experiences in multiple top Mandarin immersion schools in San Francisco and Taipei.
Who Chooses Explorer?
Parents who enroll their child or children in Explorer are primarily open-minded progressive thinkers, of all ethnic backgrounds. They are not just native Mandarin speakers.
These parents truly value education and understand the benefits of learner-led, progressive educational philosophies. They take a lot of interest in their child’s education and may even like to be involved in activities and learning experiences with their child at the school. They want the best for their child, but in a non-traditional, non-competitive way.
Parents of Explorer also have an interest in the environment and believe that children benefit from spending time surrounded by natural elements, in environments that are not too loud or overstimulating, and in minimal spaces that encourage mindfulness and calm.
Tuition:
Tuition is due on the 1st of every month. Tuition includes two snacks and a lunch daily. Please contact us for our current rates.
